How does GEOMELT® treated salt products work? GEOMELT® treated salt products ECOSALT™, uses it's special coating to accelerate the melting process by giving the salt what it needs to be able to start melting the ice.... a liquid. Salt can't melt ice unless it's allowed to mix with a liquid to become a brine. The GEOMELT® coating mixes with the salt producing a brown brine that melts ice at much lower temperatures. Which allows this product to be effective at night, overcast, and temperatures below -10°C , because they don't need the sun to start the melting process for it. |
